Weekend Getaway: Charleston Travel Guide

*taps mic* Chile, is this thing on?! I know, I know...I haven't been here in foreverrr. Lol but I'm back!

The reason that I've been M.I.A. is cause I've been working hard, okay?! I'm running a business now, and nobody told me how much time it takes to be an entrepreneur. Ya girl is TIED! And that's exactly why I've been making sure to prioritize taking time off and going on as many vacays as possible.

Most recently, I decided to visit Charleston for the first time! I've heard so many amazing things about this beautiful city, so I had to go see it for myself. Whether you're looking to take a solocation, surprising bae with a weekend getaway or planning a trip with friends, here's a few of my suggestions for where to stay, what to do and what to eat (the BEST part of Charleston was definitely the food). Enjoy!

Hotel Accommodations

We stayed at the beautiful Cambria Hotel Charleston Riverview! One of the most important parts of a vacay for me, is making sure that the hotel allows me to rest well after days full of activities and good eating. From the palm tree detailing on the guest room wallpaper, to the spa-like bathroom with the bluetooth speaker in the incredibly lit mirror and the bar/restaurant with indoor and outdoor firepits, I didn't wanna leave!

The team at Cambria made sure that we were well taken care of and even gave us additional suggestions for places to go while we were in town.

Food Recommendations

Now yall knoooow this is my favorite part, so if I'm suggesting it...just know it comes from expert tastebuds! Lol another important note; I was with a VERY picky eater and he found something he loved on every menu.

Nigel's Good Food | This Black-owned restaurant came highly recommended, so we stopped in for dinner on our first night. You HAVE to get the Geechie Wings.

Vicious Biscuit | We liked this place so much that we went TWICE! They were packed BOTH times we went, so I suggest calling in your order and picking it up to-go. We took our biscuits to the beach the first time!

Vibez Restaurant | I added this place to the itinerary because I was trying to turn up, but they were hosting a comedy show when we arrived, so the restaurant side was relatively empty! But this was another Black-owned restaurant with good food. The Philly Egg Rolls and Cajun Seafood Pasta were both delicious.

We went to a few other places, but these were my favorite! Rodney Scott BBQ and Pages Okra Grill (get the shrimp and grits!) are honorable mentions!

Fun Things to Do

If you know me, then you know I'm going to always have a fun, jam-packed itinerary! Most of the time we end up choosing a nap over 1 (or a few) of the activities (that's our business), but we actually made it to everything this time.

On Friday, we planned a beautiful picnic on Sullivan's Beach with Cabana Club Charleston! Unfortunately it was a super windy day, but I 10/10 recommend booking with Cabana Club Charleston as the temperatures heat up and beach days become a part of our weekly routine.

Saturday, we decided to do some cultural exploration! We had the privilege of going on a historical tour with Godfrey at Gullah Geechee Tours. For those who don't know, Charleston was a sundown town and a direct stop along the slave trade. Godfrey told us all of the hidden secrets of Charleston...this tour is a must!

Then, we went for a walk through downtown Charleston and visited Rainbow Row (great location for pictures). It was a great time!
